Style Icon of the Day: Pascale Baker

PASCALE BAKER

1. How do you describe your style?
I don't really have a style per se. I usually wake up in the morning and feel a certain way, and that'll be how I dress. Like this morning I was feeling a little indie and I'll go with that.
2.Where do you get your fashion inspiration?
I get a lot from different blogs. I feed off more from peoples personal style rather then what the public says I should wear.
3.What piece of clothing do you wear the most?
I always wear something either on my fingers or my wrists. I don't really have a specific piece of clothing I always wear, but a good tip my mum always told me is that if you wear sexy underwear underneath your clothes you'll always feel fabulous. Shot mum.
4.What fashion accessory/clothing have you been craving to buy?
Im dying for a  piece of mongolian sheep fur. It's getting cold in New Zealand! That will definitely be my next purchase.

Style Icon of the Day: Caroline M.

1.How do you describe your style?
Ever evolving. Its trendy, but I never go without at least one classic piece. Like right now, I am wearing those Balenciaga booties everyone seems to have (of course, mine are the Sam Edleman versions) and black dotted tights with high waisted and sort of ripped denim shorts, an oversized Taylor Swift concert T-shirt tucked into them, a black thin cardigan and my ‘signature’ giant faux-pearl earrings. I guess I wear a lot of black but in more Sienna Miller than Kelly Cutrone sort of way.

2.Where do you get your fashion inspiration?
Anything and Everything. People on the street, old disney movies, manhattan skyline, tv shows, books, art...

3. What piece of clothing do you wear the most?
My fashion’s night out tee shirt, its quite amazing.

4. What fashion accessory/clothing have you been craving to buy?
The alexa bag by Mullberry, the Miu Miu heels with the cool prints that come in like 1000 different prints, a large classic chanel purse, studded louboutins, a proenza schouler tye-die dress, an awesome lace dress, and THE ALEXANDER COCO DUFFLE.

Wait — did Obama just diss the iPad?

President Obama at Hampton University @ Yahoo! Video

President Obama's commencement speech Sunday at Hampton University caused a little stir in tech circles after he took a swipe at some of our favorite toys — "iPods and iPads and PlayStations and Xboxes" — for turning "information" into a "distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment." Oh, and he admitted that he doesn't know how to make any of them "work," either. Shocking!
Here's the passage of Obama's 2,000-word speech, delivered at the historically black college in Hampton, Va., that got the blogosphere all a-twitter (sorry, couldn't resist):
"And meanwhile, you're coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don't always rank that high on the truth meter. And with iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation. So all of this is not only putting pressure on you; it's putting new pressure on our country and on our democracy."
So is the president saying that iPods, iPads and PlayStations are bad (as the Inquirer puts it, "on his axis of evil list")? Or is he simply saying we should switch off our Xboxes once in a while and, I dunno, read a book or something?

Katy Perry Tops Magazine's 'Hot 100' List

Katy Perry is probably one happy "California Gurl" this week. The Maxim Magazine annual "Hot 100" list came out today, and the pop singer beat out the likes of Sports Illustratedswimsuit bombshell Brooklyn Deckerand "Avatar" star Zoe Saldana for the top spot. Billed by Maxim as "The definitive list of the world's most beautiful women," the annual contest is a fierce competition between actresses, models, singers, reality-TV stars, and even the girlfriends of celebrities.
Calling this Perry's "supernova moment," in the Hot 100 issue of the magazine, Maxim's Editor-in-Chief Joe Levy explained Perry's appeal as more than just about her looks: "It's that feeling you get when you suddenly realize that the smartest, funniest, coolest girl you know also happens to be the best looking and a pretty good skateboarder, too."
